2023 Summer Programme

This museum has been Wales’s most popular heritage attraction for many years. It holds a special place in the hearts of the people of Wales. This is because St Fagans is a people’s museum, where we explore history together through people’s everyday lives.

Alan D Godfrey will guide groups around the town centre historic buildings, as a follow up of last year’s walk around Alcester’s industrial heritage. The walk will also include aspects of the town’s history and architecture, as well as some of the industrial buildings from last year, we may pass near the town centre.

The visit is courtesy of the Redditch Local History Museum, which will open for our group this afternoon and we will have time to look around, either before or after the 1.5 hr walk. The walk will be around the Victorian remains of the old town centre.

Lichfield Waterworks Trust is a group of volunteers dedicated to preserving Sandfields Pumping Station with its fascinating history and unique Victorian Pumping Engine. This visit will be followed by lunch in the town.
